Nichetto Studio’s Huetopia installation opened in Brera

The project blends architecture, colours and materials, reproducing the complexity of the world around us.

Milan, 15 April 2024 – Kerakoll unveils Huetopia – Scenarios in colour, the installation by Nichetto Studio that uses the colours and surfaces of the brand to portray an imaginary place in which matter rests on volume, shaping an organic, sculptural scenario inside and outside Kerakoll Brera Studio, the brand’s showroom in Via Solferino, Milan.

In keeping with the theme of this year’s Design Week, “Materia Natura”, the design of the project by Nichetto Studio pays tribute both to the monumental nature of entrances in Milan, where lines, colours and rationality shape iconic spaces, and to nature, thanks to the use of organic shapes and scenarios.

“With Kerakoll, we imagined a space in which architecture, art and matter could converge, highlighting the crucial role played by Kerakoll in the creation of extraordinary settings. To achieve this, we took our inspiration from dynamic worlds in which shapes and colours come together to form enchanting, abstract landscapes, gathering ideas from Milan, where the showroom was established, and the style of the city’s famous entrances, which maintain their appeal today and remain ready to be immortalised”, said Luca Nichetto, creator of the installation and founder of Nichetto Studio.

Huetopia literally means “utopia of hues, of colours”. The name conjures up the idea of an imaginary place, where colour differences are transformed into enchanting landscapes that embody the complexity of the world around us. Nichetto has created a scenario composed of 14 different shapes, characterised by rotating, organic, multifaceted and cubic elements, in which each one offers a unique interpretation of essential architectural elements.

“The sculptural shapes of Huetopia offer a new take on the profound connection between the shades and surfaces of the Kerakoll collections and the aspiration towards aesthetic perfection”, commented Alessandro Dondi, Brand Marketing & Communication Director of Kerakoll Group. “These solids are a tribute to the eclectic nature of Color Collection, with its 150 contemporary colours and 15 unique surfaces, and Fugabella Color, the resin-cement available in 50 shades.”

The windows of Kerakoll Brera Studio contain four large sculptures, each one composed of shades of a different colour: blue, red, yellow and green. The same works are displayed, taken apart, in the outdoor area in front of the building, as if they were heavenly bodies that landed from above, or shells washed up on the sand by the waves. On display in the showroom are scaled-down versions of the totems in the window, all combined in different ways. This invites visitors to interact with the installation to create an engaging blend featuring the work, the colours and the Kerakoll surfaces.
